I think what I like most about the United States is how well thought out the Constitution is. These radical, liberal, brilliant men understood what it meant to be oppressed by militant empires and world religions. They read what intellectuals and philosophers were saying about the rights of people inherent to themselves as living beings, free of the trappings of European institutions and did their best to incorporate a system of checks and balances that protected the minority views, that brought about a fair system that allowed common men to rise and succeed in a manner that had not been seen in other nations.Once the Bill of Rights was added the document has needed very little change. We can always tell when we've strayed too far from the Constitution whenever the multitudes are unhappy. Freedom requires forethought, hard work, and a vigorous defense of the inherent rights of all people. It is not about flags, pledges, infrastructures or monuments. It is about hope, dignity, respect for each other, and the opportunity to achieve your potential, free of institutional barriers.
