If you are into a literal interpretation of the Second amendment we should all be armed with musket guns. If you are not a literalistic, the Second amendment suggests we should be on equal footing with our government which means, you should be able to buy nukes, tanks, missiles and whatever secret weapons the government has. Both scenarios would be great fun for me to watch from the safety of Hell. Obviously both interpretations of the Second amendment are wrong. The founding fathers intended for the Constitution to be interpreted by the needs of future generations with flexibility as a living document. Americans have done so since its inception quite well. If Americans become rigid and start treating the Constitution dogmatically they are a doomed nation. Some Assault Rifle advocates are saying, "Hey it is semi-automatic, that's not so bad. I guess they are unaware that converting a semi automatic weapon to an automatic weapon is so simple a child cold do it and of course some are advocating that children and teachers should indeed become proficient in such firepower. Thomas Paine wrote an inspirational piece called Common Sense. Sometimes I doubt Americans have any left. I can barely contain myself in anticipation of the next bloodbath!
I must admit, I have some concern that the violence could end. People could start looking within themselves to find inner peace and give up on the self-fulfilling prophecy of using a violent response as a defense against violence...Therefore I have devised a distraction! Blame violence on the insane! HAHAHAHAHAH! Oh, I am so good at being bad I LOVE myself...truly! So who are the insane? I have looked upon my insane minions and they are unaware of their own affliction!
So the answer I have heard each time there is a bloodbath is you can't control crazy so don't talk about regulations. Repeat, wash the blood off your hands, repeat...hmm...what is the definition of insanity? Oh...
The tired old argument that we don't need a law to solve a problem defies the proof that thousands of years of law codes have undeniably proven. Laws exist as a societal agreement that a type of behavior must be regulated or guaranteed. There will always be people who defy laws, yet laws inevitably reduce a negative behavior or reinforce a positive one. This is so fundamentally obvious there can be no counter-argument to it. We are not talking about cultures of guns here per se, we are talking about a growing cultural discordance in U.S. society based upon psychological motivations which are in themselves distinct and explanatory of the gun narrative and many other current topics. I once argued that laws were unimportant. Now I am an outlaw trying to keep Hell from freezing over.
The voices I hear echoing through the valleys of Gehenna say, "You shall only pry my Bushmaster from my cold dead fingers". HAHAHAHA! Let freedom ring!
President Obama, or any other President has no need to take away your guns. If it comes to the point where the U.S. government is attacking their own people the stalwart teabillies will find out WHY they don't have money for social programs. the U.S. military is more sophisticated than any in the world and more than a few "concerned" citizens would fall over each other to turn in their crazy gun-hoarding neighbor in any event. What few, semi-organized militia group that exist are under constant government surveillance already. It would be like shooting fish in a barrel, and all that huff-and-puff machismo I hear from assault rifle toting Americans would look pretty impotent when the satellite guided bunker busters are pointed at 101 Main Street. Oh was that a rebel flag? LOL!!!
The split in the U.S. between the "some rational gun regulation is good" group and the "hell no, my gun is my bro" group is part of a larger split on a wide range of issues. It comes down to cultural value systems and the deeper psychological motivations that have become more pronounced in the last two decades.
One of the fundamental motivators for me is the answer to the question Why? Asking why landed me here in Hell, but such is life! What I have discovered is that this simple question is one of the most difficult questions for other people to respond to. Generally, when I ask the question why, I either get the "You're rubber, I'm glue" response or the irrational emotional outburst response. I do understand that the primary response mechanism for many people is a rigid, formulaic series of well rehearsed code phrases. Such responses are keyed to the human need to feel safe and answer the fight or flight instinct. People are unwilling or incapable of the abstract cognitive thinking required to forge a progressive dialogue. Hey, it is not entirely their fault; their creator did not want them to think or ask questions.
I want to see the bloodbath continue. Your police force has become too militant and some are now requesting drones. Why? Because they love democracy? HAHAHA! If you want to see me cry you need to take back your government through peaceful means. Stop policing the world. Reduce violence at home through peaceful means. Uphold your constitution (something that has not been done in over 30 years) and spend money on internal programs that help you to become the most educated, scientifically advanced and peaceful nation on earth...instead of what you are...an international embarrassment and a source of endless entertainment for your underworld denizens!
