Arrived at Delphi. I found a beautiful dark blue dress for Zoe at a roadside stand. I purchased a Socrates shirt that says "The only thing I know is that I do not know anything" in both English and Greek. Reesa got lost but we found her again later. She had wandered off to see the site on her own. Some of the guys on this trip are particularly crass and make Americans look bad, running off, going past barriers and doing awful things. I don't understand why some people pay for a course on culture and history when all they really want is to run off and get drunk.
Visited the Apollo temple, theater, oracle chamber. There was a track at Delphi where athletes competed in the sacred games. A treasury was also visible here. The museum is very nice and contained the famous bronze Charioteer. My own image of him is poor quality due because it was not well lit. There were also gold masks, a Greek Sphinx, floor mosaics, vase shops and the Kouroi. Delphi was home to the navel of the world, believed to be the center of the world (Omphalos) supposedly fed to Kronos instead of feeding him Zeus.
At the Youth Hostel there was a nice woman who thought I was Greek. She spoke good English. The town near the Delphi site was very nice and I remember there were fruit stands everywhere.
