We are leaving Delphi for Athens. The drive was in a fast moving bus that came dangerously close to the edge of the road and off the mountain on numerous occasions. Eventually you learn to mentally block out the danger and focus on the beautiful scenery. There are lovely shrines set up along the road. I can't help think they are memorials to the victims of this bus driver. We arrive at Athens. Finally! I see the changing of the guard. It is such an interesting and unusual ceremony. I would describe it as an elegant, but slow-motioned goose step in colorful costumes. I can see the Acropolis in the distance and am very eager to see it up close. Went to the National Archaeological museum. I am a kid in the candy store! I have the honor of rooming with Jay and Phil our professors tonight.

We went to the Acropolis today to see the sound and light show. I was not that excited to see a light show but any chance to see the Acropolis is a must do event. Visited the Parthenon, Erechteon, the Acropolis museum, Saw a statue of Zeus, the Death Mask of Agamemnon, an Athena statue, an octopus vase and wall frescoes. Went to the Agora and saw the Stoa of Attalos which is also a museum. Visited the Hephastion. Very tired but also went to the Kerameikos cemetery and then hoofed it over to a small pottery museum. Apparently I did not pay enough tip for my laundry. It all came back purple. One guy in our group who is a jerk by profession, refuses to tip anything for his clothes launder and it comes back ruined every single time. You would think while lacking humility, he would show a little common sense and give a bit of a tip, especially since he seems to have more money than all of the rest of us combined. Many of the pictures in the links are from my visit.
