It's been a long road. I started my AA degree in Miami in 1987. I started my BA at Eastern Michigan in 1993 and finished my BA in 1997 but took graduate course work at two different universities from 1998-99. I hired in at the University of Michigan in 1999 and started taking teacher certification classes in 2005. It's a good think I love to learn!
I found out Tuesday that the paperwork for student teaching in January was due in two weeks. I started to freak out, but scheduled an appointment with an adviser. I found out today that I am on track and just need to fill out some forms. Then in the Fall I need to certify for the state History and Social Studies exams. I will also need to take a hearing test (what???), CPR certification, First Aid certification and brain surgery certification (just kidding...I think). I'm still torn because I have a decent university job that I like and which is pretty safe from economic collapse, however I will never make good money here. Teaching is what I am good at and that is a skill I seldom get to use at the University. The world is in constant change and you must be ready to change with it or you will get left behind.

[Middle English, from Old French victorie, from Latin victria, from victor, victor; see victor.] Synonyms: victory, conquest, triumph
These nouns denote winning a war, struggle, or competition. Victory refers especially to the final defeat of an enemy or opponent: "Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be" Winston S. Churchill. Stanley Cup Victory: (RED-WINGS_WIN), n. pl. Economic boon to Detroit, Hockeytown, Celebration and Parade, Immortalized Players, Sleep for Dean...priceless! Congratulations to the Red Wings on becoming the 2008 Stanley Cup champions. It's never easy, but the wings have won 4 cups in eleven years! I wish I could go to the parade on Friday but I have another appointment at the same time. Hey Hey Hockeytown! Go Wings!!! fanatic A noun 1 fanatic, fiend
a person motivated by irrational enthusiasm (as for a cause); fanatic, fanatical, overzealous, rabid marked by excessive enthusiasm for and intense devotion to a cause or idea; My definition: Fanatic, Idiot, someone who stays up until 1 AM watching the Red Wings lose a game that should have resulted in a Stanley Cup win. Fanatics are characterized by an intraveneous Mountain Dew drip, dark circles under the eyes and an irritable disposition. They have been known to eat Penguins raw after a loss which tends to unnerve animal rights advocates everywhere. |
